Local Alumni Associations fall under the umbrella of the Kappa Kappa Psi National Alumni Program.

Local alumni associations are intended to provide a way for alumni to participate in activities at a local level. LAAs may be formed at the chapter level, providing service to local chapters and college band programs, or they may be formed based on a geographic region, serving to unite alumni members from various college band programs in common activities and events. Additionally, some local area associations are jointly affiliated with Tau Beta Sigma and draw their membership from both organizations. There are currently 20 Local Alumni Associations throughout the nation.

At least one member of an LAA must be a member of the Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association, and this person can serve as the contact for the National Alumni Program. Any other offices are created at the discretion of the LAA, but all officers must be members of the National Alumni Association. No constitution/bi-laws are required for the organization, and the contact person need only submit one annual report for the LAA to remain in good standing.

LAAs are given the freedom to operate in whatever way works best for them. That means there may not neccessarily be meetings that take place (the way the active chapter meets). Meetings could, for example, happen online, or projects could be organized through online discussions.

Projects and activities are performed at the discretion of the LAA. Examples of projects are: alumni social events, band service, chapter support, service to public school music or the community. However it is important to note that LAAs are not intended to be strenuous. They are meant to be a fun and meaningful way for Alumni, Life and Honorary Members to reconnect to eachother and to the chapter.
