Our chapter enjoys a strong relationship with the sisters of the Delta Tau Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. Having strong joint relations has been an important tradition between the chapters at our school for decades, and over the years we have launched several joint projects and activities.

San Angelo Marching Festival

The SAMF is an event that's organized by the Central High School Band and Orchestra Booster Club. The brothers of EK and sisters of Delta Tau help out the day of the contest, overseeing every aspect of the operation. This is done at no cost to the Central High School Band (as it's one of their major annual fundraisers), and the brothers and sisters wear ASU Ram Band apparel to help promote the ASU Ram Band outside of the exhibition performance at the end of the night. Thanks to our efforts, in addition to those of the Booster Club members, the contest is a smooth operation every year. This is a great joint service project and a great opportunity for our band. In 2008, the San Angelo Marching Festival became the largest marching festival in West Texas. In 2009 the festival showcased 32 bands comprised of over 1,200 band students! Adrians signals the time keeper.

Ram Band Halloween Fun Night

Ram Band Halloween Fun Night is another long standing tradition of the Epsilon Kappa Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, the Delta Tau Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, and most importantly, the ASU Band!

It began many years ago as a costume dance on Halloween. Over the years the brothers and sisters added on to that until it took on its current form.

This is a social activity for all band members at ASU. Attendees will find spooky foods, a terrifying, haunted house, and of course, the goulish costumed dance! Anyone who shows up in a costume is automatically entered into the Costume Contest, where prizes are given away to those with the best outfit!

For years, band members have enjoyed Ram Band Halloween Fun Night. We look forward to working with our sisters on this project for many more years to come in our continuing efforts to provide a safe, but high quality social experience for the band.

Joint Recruiting

Our organizations feel it is important to lift each other up by helping to promote the other's organization to interested band members. As such, we often collaborate when it comes to recruiting. While recruiting events are not always a joint effort, our working together has produced many fun, memorable events!Attending these events does not obligate one to join either organization. These are simply events where bandmembers can show up to learn about the organizations and their members, and have a good time!

In 2009 our joint recruiting functions included the Dodge Ball Rush, Football/Game Night Rush, and a Revenge of the Nerds Movie Rush! All three of these events have been hugely successful, and we look forward to continuing these efforts with our sisters in the future!

Joint Banquet

Another long standing tradition of the joint chapters at Angelo State is the annual Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma Joint Banquet. At the close of each academic year, Brothers and sisters gather for a nice dinner and an evening of great times as they reflect on the accomplishments of the year.

In addition to good food, the members present each other with gag gifts. Chapter Awards are presented, a picture is taken, and an assortemnt of games typically end the evening.

While our joint social activities (activities designed exclusively for members of the chapter and their family/friends) are far from limited to this event, it is the one joint activity for which we pull out all of the stops! It is always a great way to end the year before the Brothers and Sisters part ways for the summer.

A Sense of Family

While our chapters work closely together and accomplish many great things for the ASU Band program and for bands throughout the Concho Valley, there is one aspect of our joint chapter that we are more proud of than anything else - our sense of family. Much like within the individual chapters, our sense of unity and friendship is strong. The experience of being "In The Bond" at Angelo State University is one of the most rewarding aspects of membership in Kappa Kappa Psi!
