The Epsilon Kappa Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi has a strong history of being active in both the Southwest District, and the National Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. Because of this, the Brothers of EK gain all of the benefits that these levels of the fraternity provide.

The Southwest District of Kappa Kappa Psi

The Southwest District hosts several events throughout the year, from District Day, to Area Workshops, and of course, District Convention.

These events provide numerous opportunities. Area Workshops and District Conventions, for example, are loaded with topic workshops. These workshops cover a broad range of topics. Members learn leadership and organizational skills, ways to serve the band, effective ways to build joint relations, ideas for brotherhood building, and many more.

District Conventions are also music making opportunities. The Reading Band and Jazz Band offer Brothers the chance to enjoy their craft with members from across the District.

Chapter delegates and proxies also serve on committees, where they make decisions that influence the entire District.

Epsilon Kappa has itself hosted District Convention twice, both in the 90s, in a joint effort with our sister chapter. We also regularly organize and host Area Workshops to great acclaim. The Brothers who are tasked with organizing these events gain a great deal of experience in event planning.

Brothers from EK have also had the honor of being selected to serve as officers on the Southwest District Council, where they gained the experience of organizing District Convention and helping to run the District as a whole throughout the year. As a chapter our goal is to support at least one candidate for District Office each year.

The National Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi

Kappa Kappa Psi is a force for good on the national level. By visiting the website at www.kkpsi.org you can learn about the numerous projects it implements in an effort to fulfill the fraternity's five purposes.

EK has been to nearly every bi-annual National Convention since the chapter was founded. These events provide much the same opportunities as District Conventions, but on a much larger scale. The convention is a week long, and each workshop is lead by either an important figure in the fraternity (such as a national officer) or someone who is nationally renound in their given area of expertise.

Brothers who serve as delegates or proxies at this Convention also get the experience of making decisions both in committees and in general business meetings that will effect how the national chapter operates over the next two years.

EK has also sent brothers to the National Leadership Symposium, which is a multiple day event dedicated to helping Brothers have major breakthroughs in their leadership development. These events take place on the off years of National Convention. Every NLS so far has had great reviews, and Brothers from EK return with greatly enhanced leadership abilities.

The Epsilon Kappa Chapter has also recieved numerous awards from the National Chapter over the past four decades, and has sent brothers to perform with the National Intercollegiate Band on two occassions, all of which you can learn more about on the "National and District Awards" page.

Attending these events allows members to bond with Brothers from across the nation, as well as further their education, leadership, and organizational skills. Being involved is important to the Brothers of Epsilon Kappa, as it is one of the most exciting aspects of fraternity life.
